Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical)
First Achieve Engineering are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical / Mechanical) to join a well-established and forward-thinking manufacturing business.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out repairs to plant, machinery, and equipment in a safe and timely manner
- Support the development and execution of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
- Diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and return equipment to service efficiently
- Work with maintenance systems to plan and prioritise workloads
- Assist with installation, movement, and repositioning of machinery
- Conduct electrical maintenance including wiring, panels, and control systems (110v, 240v, 415v)
- Install and maintain electrical components such as switches, relays, and control equipment
- Manufacture simple spare parts using workshop machinery where required
- Work alongside external contractors and specialist engineers when necessary
- Operate equipment such as forklifts and MEWPs (training provided if required)
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and logs
- Promote and maintain high health & safety standards across all activities
- Provide support and guidance to less experienced team members
Requirements
Essential:
- Time-served engineer in machine tool fitting or equivalent qualification
- Formal electrical qualification (e.g. IET Wiring Regulations BS7671 or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a similar maintenance engineering role
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and electrical drawings
- Knowledge of current electrical regulations and installation practices
- Experience with planned and preventative maintenance systems
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Experience with conduit, armoured cable, tray, and trunking installations
- Experience using mechanical lifting equipment
- Multi-skilled across both electrical and mechanical disciplines
- Experience within industrial or commercial engineering environments
