Manual Machine Operator
Location: East Kilbride
Salary: £37,400 per annum

First Achieve is proud to be working in partnership with a leading engineering firm based in East Kilbride. Our client is currently seeking to recruit an experienced Manual machine operator to join their workshop team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled machinist to join a well-established business with a strong reputation for quality and innovation.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a variety of manual machine tools, with a primary focus on conventional horizontal boring machines. This hands-on role requires someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or collaboratively within a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate a conventional horizontal boring machine.
  • Manufacture precision components to tight engineering tolerances based on technical drawings and specifications.
  • Carry out in-process inspections to ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • ctively contribute to departmental improvements in productivity and efficiency.

Candidate Requirements

To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:

  • Proven experience in a manual machining role.
  • The ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings.
  • Competency in the operation of various manual machine tools.
  • A full UK driving licence or the ability to reliably commute to East Kilbride for early starts.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

  • Experience operating a "Kerns Richard SH75" or similar horizontal boring machine.
  • A valid counterbalance forklift truck licence.
  • Experience in the use of overhead cranes for loading and unloading components.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices within a machine shop environment.
