About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and driven Fabrication Workshop Supervisor to lead their busy and dynamic fabrication team. This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone with a strong background in metal fabrication and proven supervisory experience.
As Workshop Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing workloads, ensuring high-quality output, and maintaining a safe, efficient, and motivated working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of fabricators, welders, and apprentices
- Coordinate daily workflow, allocate tasks, and ensure project deadlines are met
- Maintain high standards of quality control and health & safety compliance
- Monitor production efficiency and implement improvements where necessary
- Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings
- Liaise with production managers, design teams, and clients where required
- Train and mentor workshop staff and apprentices
- Manage stock levels of materials and consumables
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in a similar supervisory role within a fabrication or engineering workshop
- Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, welding (MIG/TIG), and reading technical drawings
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to problem-solve and make decisions under pressure
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Forklift and crane licenses (desirable)
- Relevant trade qualifications (NVQ / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship)
