Mechanical Design EngineerNorth Lanarkshire Permanent Position | Competitive Salary + Bonus + Benefits Monday - Friday | 37.5 Hours Engineering | Design | Mechanical Systems | AutoCAD | SolidWorks First Achieve Engineering are working in partnership with a long-established and highly respected global engineering business based in North Lanarkshire, who are world leaders in the design, manufacture, and commissioning of machinery for high-performance materials and critical applications. Due to continued growth and long-term investment into their product range and facilities, they are now looking to appoint a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their experienced engineering team. Key Responsibilities:Create fabrication, layout, schematic, assembly, and sub-assembly drawings with full Bill of Materials using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.Undertake mechanical design and detailing of complex assemblies including machined parts, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic drive mechanisms.Perform mechanical design calculations and analysis to ensure safety, performance, and compliance with specifications.Attend design reviews, customer meetings, and liaise with manufacturing, suppliers, and clients regarding technical queries.Support the production of technical documentation such as operation and maintenance manuals.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design, process, and product performance.Maintain documentation in line with the company's ISO9001 quality standards.Support the project delivery team in ensuring engineering schedules are met. Requirements:Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline (or equivalent experience).Minimum of 3 years' experience in a mechanical design role within a manufacturing/engineering environment.Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD design tools - specifically AutoCAD and SolidWorks.Experience designing mechanical systems involving hydraulics, pneumatics, and fabricated assemblies.Good understanding of engineering calculations and mechanical principles.Strong documentation and drawing skills with a keen attention to detail.Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams.Excellent organisational and time management skills.Proficient in MS Office applications.Full UK driving licence.Willingness to travel to customer and supplier sites across the UK and Europe (when required). Desirable (not essential):Exposure to vacuum or controlled atmosphere systems.Familiarity with Mathcad or other engineering calculation software.
