⚡ Electrical Technician (Automotive Focus)
Location: Oakham, Rutland | Job Type: Full-Time | Hours: 8:00am - 4:30pm (Mon-Fri)
Salary: £13-£14 per hour (depending on experience)
Our client is a market-leading manufacturer of agricultural equipment, supplying high-performance machines across the UK and around the world. Due to continued growth, they have an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated Electrical Technician with an automotive background to join the assembly and testing team.
🛠️ About the Role
This is a hands-on, workshop-based role primarily focused on automotive-style electrical systems used in agricultural machinery such as crop sprayers. You will:
Wire and assemble vehicle-style junction boxes and electrical enclosures
Carry out final terminations and connect complete wiring systems
Test and validate electrical systems, ensuring full functionality of the machinery
Diagnose and troubleshoot faults on both new and second-hand self-propelled and trailed machines
Work from detailed wiring diagrams and schematics
Adapt to custom builds and varied specifications based on customer requirements
Use your own initiative to manage time, prioritise tasks, and resolve electrical issues efficiently
You'll report directly to the Production Supervisor and work within a tight-knit, highly skilled production team.
👷 About You
This role would ideally suit someone from an automotive electrical background, with experience working on vehicles, off-road equipment, or agricultural machines.
You'll need:
Experience with 12V, negative earth systems
Hands-on experience assembling or repairing automotive or off-highway machinery wiring
A strong attention to detail and methodical approach
Ability to read and follow wiring diagrams accurately
Problem-solving mindset and ability to work both independently and in a team
Desirable (but not essential):
Previous experience in agricultural, plant, or off-road machinery
Mechanical or hydraulic system knowledge
Forklift or overhead crane certification (training available if required)
