About the Opportunity

First Achieve are working with a leading, well-established engineering business based in the Livingston area who are renowned for their advanced manufacturing capabilities and long-standing industry presence. They are currently seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join their Engineering team.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to work on high-spec components within a fast-paced, quality-driven environment, supporting both operational excellence and ongoing process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Engineering Manager with day-to-day technical tasks and project delivery.
  • Analyse technical drawings and 3D CAD models to develop efficient CNC programs for complex machined components.
  • Use CAM software to model toolpaths, simulate cutting operations, and optimise machine efficiency.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure conformance to design specifications.
  • Modify machine settings and cutting paths to enhance productivity and maintain product quality.
  • Select appropriate tooling and machining strategies based on material types and design requirements.
  • Provide hands-on support to operators and assist in the setup and optimisation of CNC machinery.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues on machines and provide timely resolutions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven background in CNC Programming within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
  • Strong knowledge of interpreting engineering drawings and 3D CAD models.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Experience with CNC troubleshooting and machining optimisation.
  • Proficiency with CAM software - experience with Creo is highly advantageous.
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Positive attitude, proactive approach, and a desire to contribute to a culture of excellence.
