Mechanical Design Engineer
As a Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC) you will be required to do the following:
- Designing and developing mechanical systems and products, ensuring they meet industry standards and regulations
- Utilising Auto-CAD and other design software to create detailed drawings and schematics
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project requirements
- Conducting research and analysis to recommend improvements and enhancements to existing mechanical systems
- Participating in prototype development and testing, and providing technical support as needed
The ideal candidate should have the relevant experience/qualifications
- Minimum HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in Auto-CAD and other design software
- Experience in HVAC mechanical design is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Day-to-day:
- Collaborating with colleagues to brainstorm and develop new mechanical designs
- Using Auto-CAD and other design software to create detailed drawings and schematics
- Conducting research and analysis to recommend improvements to existing mechanical systems
- Participating in prototype development and testing, and providing technical support as needed
- Gas fired Plant room
- Boiler outputs and qty
- Survey of the gas meter and required load to building (plant/Kitchen)
- Flue selection (open flue or sealed)
- Ventilation requirements
- Pump duties with calculated redundancy
- Hot water requirements/volumes
- Cylinder selection
- Layout drawings/schematic drawings
- Expansion vessel sizes
- Total water content within overall heating system
- Pressurisation unit selection
- PHE or LLH selection and data
- Hydraulic separation
- Pressure relief valve pressure settings
- Static heating pressure
- Operating heating pressures
- Equipment schedules (boilers/pump/commission stations/ mixing valves/gauges
- Design calculations
- Pipe sizes
- Pipe Insulation thicknesses Distribution
- Individual room heat input calculations
- Equipment schedule
- Room Control locations
- MV valve locations
- Commission station locations and product selection
- Material type (press copper)
- Pipe insulation thickness
