Introducing Lead FMCG Consultant, Giuseppe Leo...
He’s the pizza-loving, luxury tailor turned recruiter, please say ciao to our Lead FMCG Consultant, Giuseppe Leo.
Hi Giuseppe, let’s jump straight in:
Going on your name, we’re going to go out on a limb and say you’re part Italian?
Yes, I’m originally from North West London, but of Italian descent. I have been living in Edinburgh since 2006.
Ah it’s a great city! How do you like to spend your time outside of work?
I love music, so buying and playing records and any opportunity to spend time with my wife and daughter.
Lovely. We hear you’re a bit of an industry veteran? What were you doing before you joined First Achieve?
I spent 14 years working in Luxury Fashion Retail and Tailoring and dressed numerous celebrities. Then I spent 10 years with a previous recruitment company, but hit a bit of a glass ceiling there and wanted a new and exciting challenge, which I have found at First Achieve.
That’s what we like to hear! We’re dying to ask about those celebrities, but we’ll stay on topic - what was the first role you filled?
QA Manager for Alara Wholefoods in London.
What would you say is the best part of your job?
Genuinely, it’s when I’ve made the perfect match of candidate to vacancy. That is my job in a nutshell, if you are not passionate about doing that then you shouldn’t be working in recruitment!
Well said! When you do manage to get away, where is your ideal holiday destination, and what’s your go-to holiday drink?
It would need to be on a beach somewhere, or spending time in NYC, Paris and Amsterdam or touring around Italy. My drink of choice is either a fine wine or Tequila.
We like your style. Any funny or embarrassing stories from interviews?
I once had a client call me to tell me that the candidate I sent in for interview was currently meditating after having a panic attack in the interview!
I was mortified although once she got over her initial panic she interviewed amazingly well, and they eventually hired her!
Wow, that must have been some interview to pull it back like that!
Ok, not at all on topic - What would your death-row meal be?
It would have to be Pizza! I’d die happy with that being the last thing I tasted.
Haha you really love pizza! And finally, you can invite three guests to a fantasy dinner party – dead or alive – who makes your list?
Joe Casely Hayford, Marvin Gaye and Monica Bellucci – I think that the conversation would be incredible. Three people who are/were icons in their respective fields. I would just sit there and listen to all of their amazing anecdotes, and try not to stare at Monica too much!
On that note, we’ll let you get back to work.
Giuseppe heads up FMCG from our Glasgow office and has lots of exciting opportunities just waiting for the ideal candidate.
